On May 10, 2022, the Camden City Council adopted Ordinance MC-5384, creating a program that allows licensed food trucks to operate in designated areas of the City of Camden.
Permanent food truck locations included in the Camden Business Districts, along with other high-pedestrian areas such as:
1. Roosevelt Plaza Park @ Camden City Hall
2. Hall of Justice Complex
3. The Joint Health Science Center @ MLK & South Broadway
4. North Broadway & Federal Street (temporary closed due construction)
5. Aquarium Loop & Riverside Drive
6. 3 Riverside Drive
7. Cooper’s Poynt Park 801-811 Delaware Ave.
8. 990 Morgan Blvd. @ Rev. Evers Park
9. 1725 Park Blvd. @ Farn Ham Park
10. 3101 Federal Street @ East Side High School
11. South 2nd & Mechanic @ EMR parking lot
12. 6th & Washington Street @ the Sheila Roberts Park “Open dusk till dawn” (only)
13. 22nd & Harrison Ave. @ 22nd & Harrison Park
In addition to the above annual licenses, the City, at the discretion of the Director of Code Enforcement, can also issue one-day to three-day “special events food truck licenses.”
In rendering a decision as to whether a license should be issued, the Director will consider and give preference to those applicants with ties to the City of Camden, including whether an applicant is a Camden-owned Business or is a certified New Jersey MBE, WBE, DVBE, VBE or SBE, based on a first-come; first-served basis. In the instance where, after the application of the above preferences, the number of applicants for a Food Truck license or licenses remaining is greater than the remaining number of licenses available from the City of Camden, the Director will conduct a lottery among the remaining eligible license applicants in awarding such license or licenses.
It is strongly suggested that all applicants read through and become familiar with the Food Truck ordinance and its requirements.
