The Camden Youth News Network (CYNN) is a youth-led media initiative that gives Camden’s young people a platform to share their voices, document their experiences, and highlight the stories that matter most to their community. Through hands-on training in journalism, photography, videography, and digital storytelling, youth participants ages 13–18 learn how to research, report, and create content that reflects the realities of life in Camden. From covering major civic events—such as the Mayor’s State of the City Address—to producing original segments on local issues, CYNN empowers students to become both storytellers and leaders.
Hosted at the North Camden Community Center, the program provides a safe and supportive space where youth build technical skills, develop confidence, and practice teamwork and communication. In addition to media production, participants engage in workshops on leadership, civic engagement, and personal development. CYNN not only prepares young people for future careers in media, communications, and public service, but also strengthens Camden by ensuring youth voices are heard in conversations about the city’s present and future.
